Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China—The company organized Party members and cadres to visit the Hongqi Canal for an education activity on ideals and convictions.

【Hongqi Canal】 In the 1960s, the people of Lin County, Henan Province, in order to transform their harsh living conditions marked by drought and water scarcity, undertook a ten-year arduous effort—working with nothing but hammers, chisels, and their bare hands—to construct this massive 1,500-kilometer-long water‑conservation project along the sheer cliffs of the Taihang Mountains. It has been hailed as the “Artificial Heavenly River.” With its channels winding through the mountains, it has inspired the world. The Hongqi Canal stands as a testament to China’s path, its strength, and its spirit—a spiritual monument that will forever endure in the hearts of the people.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, foster among Party members and cadres a spirit of pioneering initiative, resilience in the face of adversity, and determination to overcome challenges, and strengthen the cohesion, centripetal force, and combat effectiveness of the Party organization, the company’s Party General Branch organized all serving Party members and mid‑to‑senior level leaders to visit and study at the Hongqi Canal in Linzhou City, a “National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base,” on June 26–27, revisiting the pioneering spirit of self-reliance and arduous entrepreneurship displayed by their predecessors. Zhang Yangxun, Chairman and General Manager of the company, and Sun Weiliang, Secretary of the Party General Branch, attended the educational activities.
Stepping into the exhibition hall of the Hongqi Canal Memorial Hall, visitors listened attentively to the docent’s vivid and engaging narration. Each striking photograph, every moving story, and each precious artifact transported them back to the scene, allowing them to experience firsthand the indomitable spirit of the people of Linzhou as they braved countless hardships and forged ahead with unyielding determination in the construction of the “Artificial Heavenly River.” All were profoundly moved by the majestic spirit of the Hongqi Canal—“self-reliance, hard work, unity, and selfless dedication.”
After touring the memorial hall’s exhibition rooms, all Party members and cadres followed the mountain‑side canal to visit the Youth Tunnel—the critical bottleneck of the Hongqi Canal’s main channel. Walking along the elevated walkway built right against the cliff face and overlooking the void below, they gazed at the water coursing through the mountain, once again appreciating the arduousness and hardships behind the saying, “The Foolish Old Man rose up over ten years to bring the waters of the Zhang River to nourish the fields.” They also experienced firsthand the fervent passion and indomitable spirit of the people of Linzhou as they forged ahead in those days, undaunted by hardship.
Before the Youth Tunnel, facing the bright red Party flag, all the company’s Party members solemnly raised their right fists and reaffirmed their Party oath. Their resolute and powerful vows echoed through the majestic Taihang Mountains, expressing their confidence and determination to remain true to their original aspirations, keep their mission firmly in mind, fulfill their duties at their posts, and dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the cause.
The Red Flag Canal stands as an enduring monument to “transforming nature” and a timeless banner. Through visits and study, retracing the footsteps of this revolutionary legacy, we have gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Red Flag Canal Spirit, which carries profound educational significance. Participants unanimously pledged to carry forward the spirit of the Red Flag Canal in their work through concrete actions—remaining true to our original aspirations, shouldering our mission with courage, and exemplifying the vanguard role of Party members. With renewed enthusiasm and a resolute spirit of striving, we will seize every moment, live up to our youthful years, and, through tangible efforts, make new and even greater contributions to the grand goal of Dongyue Company’s third entrepreneurial journey.
