The 2017 year-end performance report card for heavy-duty trucks has been released.
Recently, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released 2017 production and sales figures for the automotive industry: total vehicle output and sales reached 29.0154 million units and 28.8789 million units, up 3.19% and 3.04% year on year, respectively. These growth rates were 11.27 and 10.61 percentage points lower than the same period last year. Among them, commercial vehicle production and sales stood at 4.2087 million and 4.1606 million units, representing year-on-year increases of 13.81% and 13.95%, respectively.

According to the “Notice on the Implementation of the Fifth‑Stage Motor Vehicle Emission Standards,” effective July 1, 2017, all heavy‑duty diesel vehicles manufactured, imported, sold, or registered nationwide must comply with the China V emission standards.
In October, heavy-truck sales exceeded 90,000 units, sealing the year’s total above one million.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in October, production and sales of heavy-duty trucks reached 95,500 units and 92,300 units, down 6.92% and 8.72% month-on-month, but up 50.86% and 32.56% year-on-year. A straightforward analysis of these figures reveals that the month-on-month decline was less than 10%, indicating a steady yet moderating pace of market growth. Meanwhile, the year-on-year output increase of 50.86% suggests that the market had been sluggish prior to October 2016.
